Tube Help presonus noise

I have the little presonus tubepre, i wasnt expecting anything great out of it, but the hissing is huge, i cant get any kind of volume out of it without massive noise. anyone got same prob with it? advice on replacement 'low noise' tube? or is it something im missing? please and thanks.. dan

It has good specs and Presonus make good gear even the budget stuff is good. How is it connected? Is it new?

Maybe you have the pad engaged.

What are you using? A mic or plugging an electric guitar?

Using an SM-57 about 4 inches away from the bridge on acoustic guitar,, yea its brand new and i'm not using any of the extra features.. Dan
