I've got a newish Fender Twin RI...the one with the 1/4 power switch and the two-channels, verb and tremolo.
It has been pretty abused as my main gigging amp, and gave out last year. Crackles, rattles, verb stopped working, and weird phasey low-end (or lack of it).
Gave it in local shop, and it came back sounding worse after they had it for 4 weeks !!!
I was reading with interest the thread about the Twin RI's and mods that can help them. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/showthread.php?t=69768
I have played a seventies twin, and a later eighties one, and both sound alot better than mine ever did. Although I thought mine was okay when working 100%.
I want this amp to retire in my studio, and wouldn'd mind getting it heavily modded to fulfill my Fenderish tone requirements.
I could always get rid of it and get a Champ, I know...but I'm kind of attached to it.
So, the question is....
Can anybody steer me towards a good tech service for modifying and repairing valve guitar amps ? Preferably Ireland, but UK is good too.
Anybody dealt with this crowd ? http://www.tube-electronics.co.uk/
Cheers,
Nathan
