Triggering recorded acoustic drums

I'm currently using Sonar to record audio tracks. I know it's possible to run the track out to an external unit to trigger drums back in and record the output to a new track. Is there a way to accomplish this all digitally through some type of plug in or a program that will work on a wave file in this manner?

KTDrum Trigger does the same thing as drumagog and it is free.
You just need a Drum machine VSTI, like cubase's LM4.

You set up KT Drum trigger on your acoustic drum track as a VST plugin, adjust until it is picking up the hit properly, set the midi note numer to 36 for kick drum, point it to a midi track, point midi track to output to the LM4 or whatever drum machine you are gonna use and you are good to go.
