You can either insert an effect or send to it. If you send, you can send from more than one track (or input) at the same time. So you can use the same reverb effect on for example 5 of your tracks at the same time. If you insert, the effect is only used on that particular channel you insert to. (The sound is going through the effect). When you send, you hear the original sound as well as the sound from the effect. As I don't have a VS880, I don't know where you should look, but look somewhere near "Aux send". It should be there somewhere...
