Tips on matching up to a benchmark mix?

I am currently mixing my bands 5 track Ep. Now due to gigging etc the tracks weren't recorded at the same time and mic positions were moved slightly amongst other things. One of the songs is how I would like the rest to sound; give or take a few alterations. There is one of the tracks especially which seems to be missing something but I can't quite put my finger on it... I have a suspicion the guitars are to blame.

I am hoping a simple eq adjustment is the answer

I wouldnt eq anything I would literary just turn the guitars down, and vocal up. comp the drums some more. Guitars leading is great but they cant fight with the vocals and if they do the vocals "MUST" win they both cant be on top.
