tight sealed gypsum walls = no nails & srews?!

hi guys,

i understand the principle of sound isolation and that this only comes with air tight sealing, but does this mean i can´t even put a single nail or screw in any wall of my control/live room? does everything have to be just glued to the wall? (is this even possible?) does this change dramatically if i do a dual layer staggered gypsum wall (not studs) construction?

thanks for your input!

No you still use screws through the gypsum to the resilient channel beneath. The second layer of gypsum (if used) is glued to the first layer (after first layer is screwed to the resilient channel). What you want to make sure of is that the screws don't pass through the resilient channel into the studs. This would create a path for vibration (sound) transmission.
