The Greatest Song Not Written

Verse 1

The greatest song not written woke me deep from sleep last night

All about a broken man who'd never risked anything in life

He spent his life a lonely fool no one to hold him tight

No love to share his dreams or hold him close in the quiet of the night

Verse 2
His life was perfect No pain to try his faith

No kids to call him dad no tears streak down his face

No scars of love on his cold heart to wake him late at night

No hand to hold or hope to spare a darkened inner light

Chorus

Now the greatest song not written is haunting me tonite

Cause I'm afraid I'll wake up to find that I just might

Be the man I'm writing for a crippled heart for sure

Don't let this song not written be my loneliest encore

Guitar/Steel Lead

Repeat Chorus

Very nice Steve

Greetings from North Texas, Steve!

Deep lyrics. I like lyrics that make one think. Very well done.

I'm gonna be driving close by you on Saturday, as I am making a trek to Rosenberg to play a wedding with my band, Codger (www.thisiscodger.com).

Man, I love the pedal steel. If you ever want to collaborate...BTW, what software do you use to record?

Regards,

Dono in Frisco, Baja Oklahoma

Sounds really good - needs some fader riding to edit out some breathing, salivating. Also the verb rings badly on some sections like "He spent..."
Other than those two things it's really a good example of close mic'ing to get a real sense of intimacy & connection.

Oh, & a top song too.

Just to be clear, it wasn't a perfect recordong, a bit of boominess in the acoustic and the issiues that RayC mentioned. But, I didn't care, I loved the song.

Yeah, that's a really nice song Steve.

Ideally, the vocals do sound like they need some work. They sound a bit like they're almost distorting or something.

But the performance is great. So...

Thanks for the listen.

Thats really sweet man. I love it. very intimate and close, i like the finger squeeks and breathing, gives it a more human feel..i would leave them in personally. Excellent song and brilliantly performed. A++

Well done Steve. I hope you are succesful in placing this tune with a MAJOR.
We'll all be able to say " yeah, I heard that song back in the fall of '06..."
