The Firewire race is "heating" up.

Echo has the new Echofire stuff coming out, one with a sub $400 street price, and new stuff from Edirol, Presonus, and M Audio. It's about time companies realize FW is the way to go for external and portable audio devices.

Being an Echo fan already I can't wait to check out the Echofire 2.

Check them all out:

Sorry but that promotional video is flawed. I couldn't stop laughing when one of the bits fell off one of the products. They just can't advertise it when things are falling apart! :D

That was just a bracket ear, I think.

True, but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their producs does it? I felt really sorry for the guy doing it. Anyway, don't forget the Hercules 16/12 FW, that looks pretty good, I'm thinking of investing into it.

I don't consider something like a rack ear that was loose any indication of their quality, and since I already own their Mia, I am very interested in them.

No not of their sound quality. Their products have a good reputation so I expect these new additions to sell well. Are they pretty much the same thing just with more and more inputs?

That's what it looks like. I want the small one. Looks kinda like a Firewire MBox.

Wondering what MOTU is going to do.

Fix the numerous problems with their current firewire devices, and try to get their devices to work on more PC (more-so AMD) machines, maybe update their product images to truly reflect the current actual models, get an actual 'support team.'
