the best mike leads XLR to jack

Guys

Someone told me that if you have a crummy lead you can slightly deplete / degrade the sound from your mike, even a good one - is this true? I've never really thought about it before, assuming all leads (XLR to jack) were pretty much the same - if it is true which models are the best ones to get?

In general, look for cables with Neutrik connectors and good quality cable (Canare, Belden). Mogami and Monster both make very nice mic cables at the top end of their lines, but you'll pay for the name. I've heard some good things about the BLUE line of mic cables.
