I brought up a little issue in Mixing/Mastering regarding bass frequencies. It's there if you want to read it. I figure that perhaps I ought to post a mix here for anyone to critique. It's the best way to learn.

Tell me how you tracked this. It's a great tune but there's some over all thin sound to it. In the drums and bass in particular. Just a guess but I think it's more of a recording problem than a mix thing.

Yeah, I tracked this on my Ghetto rig eariler this year. Ready? 2 x MCA SP1 for drum overheads, 1 x SP B1 for the kick and a Nady SP1 on the snare. The kit is not my kit, so in our haste I forget to re-tune the guy's bass drum, so I had to compromise the sound in the mix. The bass was DI'd through a Sans Amp Bass Driver and also I ran a signal through a small tube amp. The guitar was through two tube amps both mic'd with the SP1s.

Up to now, though, the signal should still be fat. Here's where it loses steam: I used a Behringer MX802a and a MX602a to get the signals in and out of my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

Unfortunately, my Ghetto Rig is no longer so I can't recreate that awesome phat.
