Teletronix LA-2A

I had used the free Antress plugin that emulated the LA2A and one day I had to reinstall everything in my computer and lost that plugin. I had used it to pump my bass and kick sounds but later opted for other compressors so I didn´t miss the plugin.
Yesterday, a good friend who owns a very well equipped studio came over to mine with his Teletronix LA2A (the UA model) and told me I could borrow it for a couple of weeks. Now, I want to know if any of you have experience with this unit, and where you normally use it. I ask this because I tried to run a prerecorded kick and bass through it and I couldn't quite get the same power I used to get out of the plug in, however I recorded a couple of vocal tracks through it and they sounded awesome. Anybody with experience with the LA2A?

Almost a defacto vocal comp. "Eh" on most other things. Not bad for smooove bass lines...

And it's not bad on bass either but like everything else, it depends on the material.

my piano player has a real one in his studio. its really sweet. we are using it on almost everything we record.
