Teac a6300

Hi all. I'm new to this forum for what it's worth.

I just recently found a gem. A Teac a6300 in working condition for $50. It had a few problems when I got it. It was dusty as hell. But some time with various brushes, rags, and an air compressor fixed that.

The other was that the pinch roller and tape lifters were very slow to engage. In fact you could barely see them moving. This is my first Teac and I had heard that the grease often becomes sticky. Sure enough this was the problem. I stripped it down and re-greased the mechanism. Now it works smooth and quick.

Finally I'll get to the point of this post. In the manual It says to remove the dust cover and washer to get to the felt to oil the capstan bearing. I'm not sure, however, how to get the cover off. It seems to just pull off or something because there are no indications of screws in the diagram. I just want to be sure before I reef to hard on it. I don't want to damage it.

So do I just pull? Or do I have to pry it with something?

Thanks.
