tascam us 1800 direct monitoring question.

basically if i turn the know all the way to computer i get the output from reaper coming through and the track im recording if its set up to monitor. now i thought i could blend the input of the mic direct from the tascam by turning the mix knob the other way but it doesnt seem to put through any sound just makes the computer side quieter am i missing something here???
 
That should work. I myself don't use the direct monitor thing. A well setup computer allows you to monitor without much latency. What is it that you are recording that you are wishing to monitor while going into Reaper?
 
just trying to make it work thats all i can get the sound to come through on the recordings but it doesnt sound great for some reason.
