tascam porta 2

i just purchased a porta 2 now i need help to hook it up to my peavy xr600c sm58 mic and rp7 pre amp and gibson elec gutiar with crate amp also what type of tapes are ok the ones that i have are TDK 60 min type 1 ieci if that says any thing please help me to get started thanks to any one who can get me started

If the the Shure has and XLR output you will need to get an XLr to 1/4 convertor. You can plug the mic right in to the 4-track. YOu can plug your guitar in to the pre-amp and then plug it in to the 4-track, you can plug your crates "line-out" in to the 4-track input. You can also plug your guitar right in to the 4-track or use your mic to mic the crate. Get 60-minute heavy duty/high quality tapes - 60 minutes.
