Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, but i have been looking for tips for a moment now. I decided to ask cause i couldn't find the solution of my problem. so here is the big deal: my tascam 34 is monitoring the input source perfectly, everything is fine, the transport, the decks....
I have trouble erasing tapes, but i'm going for a bulk eraser so thats not really a problem.
Track one is playing back what i recorded on it, the sound is awesome.
the point is, when i play back recorded material on tracks 2,3,4, it sounds muffled and distant :
I'm recording hot ( up to +3 db on the vu metre ) then playing the recorded materiel ( switching to SYNC ) and the VU wont reach -10 db, and recorded sound plays back distorted and distant / low.
Since my tascam's outputs are feeding my soundcard ins, i've been trying to raise the gains, but my sound definitely got spoiled in the recording process. it lost a lot of definition, there's nothing to do.
What really disturbs me is that it happened lately. I managed to do good recordings before.
As i said, track 1 is recording perfectly ( to me ) and everytrack monitors perfectly the source. So i guess it's about the heads, but i really don't have a clue... so any advice would be REALLY welcome ( i have a project pending )
just let me know if you need any photo / or additional info that could help . Regards, Theo
