tascam 2488 neo headphone jack not in stero

Hey. prob something stupid. I plug my headphones mini jack into a 1/4 inch adapter then plug it into the tascams headphone jack and i only hear sound from the right head phone. if I pull the mini out of the 1/4 adatper just a wee bit its in stereo. do I need a mono adapter for the mini plu on my headphones?
 
Yeah, something's up either with your headphone connection or the jack on your 2488. Do your headphones work fine on anything else they're connected to?

The Neo's headphone jack is stereo.
 
When you pull it out a little is it actually stereo or is it just mono being bridged to L+R.

Try a new adapter anyway. I have about 20 that are broke!!! gona have to buy one that's made of granite and gold or something.
