Just bought a Pioneer RT-909 R2R. Can't decide whether to use 2500' spools (66 min @ 7.5 ips), or 3600' spools (96 min @ 7.5 ips). There's little difference in price.
1. Will the longer tape wear faster. I'm assuming the longer the tape, the thinner the oxide which sits on the acetate base (or whatever they use).
2. Any recommendations for the tape to use for Pioneer - I've had recommended to me every tape manufacturer in the world, along with a horror story to go with it if I didn't use theirs (their intentions were good).
