synth programming

There are a lot of different types of synths- additive, subtractive, physical modeling, granular, sample based, fm etc. In part your question depends on what kind of synth. There are a lot of good books and articles in Keyboard and Electronic Musician (and other mags) about programing, from the basics-to pad- to leads etc. Several web sites also talk about programing different kinds of synths. It may help to visit your library, check for programing books and the magazines I mentioned, also do a net search... probably using the name of your synth +program... also, reading articles of net sites on synth basics will help, that will explain stuff like envelopes/filters, amp vs pitch vs timbre, LFOs, modulation etc. Hope that helps
