Synching two Fostex R 8 r-r machines

I have an opportunity to purchase a Fostex 4035 synchronizer controller. Anyone tried using this to synch two R8s? If so I'd appreciated knowing how you did this and how it works. Thanks.

You have to stripe SMPTE time code on a track of each machine so you lose a track on each machine. You end up with 14 tracks instead of 16. They're also slow to chase and lock.

Thanks. You both helped knock sense into my head. I just spent my kids' college money and pick up a Tascam MSR-16 on Ebay. It's on the way as we speak. Woohoo.
