Switching hardware between computers

I run an 002 control surface on my mac. It just crapped out on me in the midst of a huge project. My friend has a 003 that he has been using on his PC. We both are running pro tools 8. Im looking for a temporary solution.

Does anybody know if I would be able to just plug his 003 into my computer and im good to go? is there a way to do this?
Using his whole setup is not really an option
