Stupid Cakewalk/Multitracking Question

Hey Guys,

I have another question for you.. I guess some of you will have a blast at me but.. )

I´m using Cakewalk Guitar Tracks.. the thing is, I arm & record the first track (that would be rhytim guitar). THen, when I arm the 2nd track and record it (lead), it records the sound of the 1st track too! Then when I play it altogether I get a crappy flanged sound and the quality drops.

Can anybody please help me in this?

You didn't list your soundcard, but I'm guessing it's a Soundblaster. I'm also guessing you have it set to record "what you hear", so that you're getting your monitored track recorded along with the line-in. You should set the card to just record from the line-in.

At least, that's my guess.

Yes.. it´s a SB Live.

Right! I indeed have the "what you hear" volume all up.. is it that simple, should I just turn it off while letting the Line In on & up? That makes sense... ))
