Sorry about not following this up sooner... I did end up putting the C1 next to a 100W bulb (about 8 inches away) for roughly 6 hours. That cleared up the noise I was hearing and the mic sounds fantastic. Thanks go to Alan at PMI for the solution.
I ended up getting a dehumidifier and have been running it consistently in the studio... it amazes me how much moisture is (was
in the air down there.
