1k.before i was asking a lot of questions about some pretty expensive gear :( :( (my bad) but im not ready for that. .im looking to do mostly hip hop and r&b.i need a mic if possible 2.a pre and soundcard,and some recording software and anything else im missing????

Again these are just Ideas, mics vary from voice to voice. I own Cubase SE and liked it ok, I never really had a good soundcard that did it any justice so I switched to pro tools. IMO this stuff is decent quality that you could probably get most of your money back on if you decided this isn't for you.
 
what are the specifications of yer computer?...If its not too good, you might have to start with that. Also, how are you making beats? You might need a software to do that. I dont know too much in that field, but i know alot of people use fruity loops, and that it can be had for pretty cheap.

You might want to ask around for some mic recomendations, or if you can, go to your local music store, and try some out. Otherwise, almost any decent large diaphragm condensor should suffice, but if you want to flatter a certian voice, you have to shop around.
 
What are you forgetting? Headphone amp, headphones and extension cables, monitors, a pop filter, a power conditioner. A good boom stand, a decent desk to work on. A shit load of good cables, and a lava lamp-Richie
