I like flat wound Daddario 11s on my Ibanez semi hollow AS103NT, but then I was going for that big round jazz sound with good volume balance across all the strings. Think Johnny A.
Surprisingly, it also works well for rock and roll. I have offered it to several guitarists in the studio when they realized what a big sound it imparted to dirty guitar sounds.
And...I can finally do that octave thingy without buzz :O
Downside? bending is a bitch; half step max.
