Stock Mac Pro with only 1 gig???

Anyone running pt le with the stock mac pro 2.66 desktop with only 1 gig of ram. I ask because I am going to buy this and it might be a month till i can afford an extra 3 gigs of ram... i have some pretty heavy sessions this month and I'm curious just how locked up I'll be?

Keep in mind i am upgrading from an AMD2600+ with 1.5 gigs of ram.

1 GB is not good enough if you're running multiple programs or using virtual instruments and samplers. You'd have to be freezing tracks constantly.

I'd take another look at Apple's website tomorrow as there is speculation that the Mac Pro will be updated. Most likely with 2 GB RAM stock and an up-to-date video card.

Honestly, it's probably a bit overkill....even a 20" or 24" iMac (also speculated to be updated soon) will be plenty of power given where you're coming from.

exactly. Do you use samplers or virtual instruments?


If yes, buy more RAM.


If not, you'll be fine.
