Hopefully this will get stickied once we have worked out a decent answer to the question, because 1/2 the posts in this sub-forum are along the lines of "How do I make my VST work?"

Sooo:

A VST instrument (for example, a synth or a sample) normally comes in the form of a .dll file. These files need to be placed in the correct directory for cubase to be able to find them. So you should:

1) Find your .dll and associated files that your plug-in came with
2) Copy them all into the following folder: C:/program files/steinberg/cubase 4/vst plugins
3) Restart/Load up cubase, go to the VST menu, and find your chosen VST in the drop down menu.
4) Rock

If anyone else wants to add stuff, feel free too. Hopefully this will be useful for people visiting the boards.
