Steinberg interfaces

I had one, great unit well worth the price. Preamps and convertors are crystal clear. The preamps don't have a lot of power but plenty for digital recording. Made like a tank, solid construction. Excellent software drivers.

Negatives: could use more volume to drive the headphones (if your not using a separate headphone amp)

Just a note, not the same issues with the 824. Headphone output (two of them) almost reaches painful levels, and I'm a semi deaf drummer. Preamp gain at 60% for typical singer with SM7b. Quite a bit more clean gain than my previous Tascam US 1800.

I think Steinburg should have labled thier hardware as Yamaha. I have been rarely dissapointed with any Yamaha gear. As these interfaces are much better than the motu offerings IMHO. The only time I had low headphone signal is with my 32 ohm K240's (but that is typical for most headphone amps).
