Start Me Up intro: is it edited?

hey guys. I was listening to Start Me Up in the car, and I was wondering if the drums are edited. You know, the part where it changes from being against the rhythm to straight. I remembering reading from Keith Richards that they did it live, but the first snare hits seem to have a different reverb from the rest of the song.
Anybody knows?
