stacking rigid fiberglass

I Saved a bunch of 1" rigid fiberglass ceiling tiles from a demo job in hopes i could stack it together for bass traps. since i have so much i was considering making 4" thick traps assuming that will have the similar effect as a solid piece.

I was planning on making a backing frame and using fabric to hold the panels to the frame. thoughts?

I believe they will be even better if you leave a gap between each one for some air. Someone else can probably point you in a better direction with diagrams and such, but i don't feel like doing a search right now. :D

they will work fine. I use this myself, i have a bunch of 3" and 4" thick panels assembled from ridgid fiberglass ceiling tiles.
I used 1 X 4 lumber around the edges, and shot brads into the sides to secure the fiberglass, then covered with muslin (muslin secured with my buddy hot glue)
butt them to each other, but leave an air space behind the assembled panel.
ex: hang your 4" thick panel about 4" off the wall.
cheers
C.
