Splitting a 1/4" cable signal

Hello!

I have several pieces of equipment that I need to both send to my recording device (via my mixer) and send to a reference amp for practicing. I want to be able to leave the mixer off when practicing - so I want to split the 1/4" out of the instrument and go to both the mixer and amp.

My question is - will I lose any signal quality by doing this?

I am thinking of simply taking a "Y" adapter out of the instrument. I would only ever have either the mixer or amp on at once - never both at the same time if that matters.

Your help is always appreciated.

I think you'll be just fine ..... give it a shot. A Y splitter is only a couple bucks.
I've split non critical signals in just this manner with no noticable quality loss.
