Speaker Question

Hello, im going to setup a good home theatre speaker system
give me some speaker recomendations

2 Book shelf and sub or a better setup if you know: 300-500 range New. im going to use a receiver (yet to be bought)

can i use passive studio monitors as HIFI speakers? is this a good choice? or should i stick with HIFI? (alesis mk2 or beringer truths) i.e. this is a dvd/stereo application.

I own some studio monitors (yamaha msp 10s) So i dont really need studio monitors but i was wondering if they (another passive set) would be a better choice than HIFI speakers?

Well......some monitors are Hi fi....some aren't....it's a matter of how good they are. I don't think there is a specific defined difference between Hifi and monitors. Granted, the audiophile community laughs at some of the stuff we use in "pro-sound" applications but that's because some of it is crappy.
