Soundproofing door

I have a small bedroom/studio and a noisy family. I'm trying to get rid of the sound coming into my room through the door.

I nailed 2 thick blankets to the wall and hung them down infront of the door and it worked really well. Couldn't even hear anything. Only downside is I didn't have any blankets to sleep with.

Also, it makes it real hard to get in and out of my room.

So, should I put foam on the door, would this be as effective, or more effective as thick blankets? Should I put the foam on the outside, inside, or both sides of the door? What kind of foam would work best?

Thanks.

Edit: After reading another thread on this topic I learned that it's not really the door it's the cracks around the door that let noise through, so foam probably wouldn't do much good on its own. Do you think a combination of blankets/foam would work better, or just some blanets especially made for acoustic treatment?

I really wouldn't even mind using normal blankets as long as there was a way to make it easier to get in and out of my room.
