Soundcraft M4

I have a M4, and have A/B'd its pres against several other pres, including the RNP (but not the Grace 101). The M4 is a decent board, the pres are certainly better than Mackies, but not quite as nice as the RNP, at least to my ears. One thing nice about the M4 is that you can line in outboard pres into the board channels and utilize all the other features of the M4, which are rather robust.

I wouldn't say the pres are as good as a RNP or Grace, but better than mackie's. Their EQ is highly praised compared to mackie, too.

And hey, for 12 channels ($599) for almost the same price it's pretty hard to beat.

Its a great board, quiet... powerful headphone amp... sufficient routing... decent preamps (i use them for toms and scratch track stuff)... its a good board... my complaints are the last 5db or so of the preamp gain gets super crazy hissy... its not as nice as the RNP, though....
