SUCK, SQUEEZE, BANG, BLOW
Just wanting opinions on which to get (upgrade from the POS I have now). The number of inputs are plenty (just going into a 2496 card). Mostly wondering which has the better pres and features for connectivity ( I'll probably record some things damp, not entirely wet ;)). Both have inserts and I believe the E8 gives a choice between pre and post fade on the AUX sends. Could be a good thing. I also know the Yamaha MG is a tried and true piece of equipment. Comments welcome.
 
I ended up getting the Soundcraft Spirit E8. Like new for $100.00. Hard to wrong there. I liked the longer faders and the sweepable mids on the EQ section better. The compressor on ch. 1 & 2 on the Yamaha didn't do a thing for me. I already have a comp. Also, 8 mic pres. vs. 4 mic pres. are always good to have. I also liked the choice between pre or post fade for the AUX sends on the Soundcraft.

I think I did good.
