I am a PC user (Gateway 8Gig - Vista64) who is moving to setting my system up for music recording. I must sell my Yamaha XS & monitors, due to financial matters, and will now be working with Reason4. However, I am experiencing latency, and wondering if the integrated soundcard on my PC (Realtek High Definition Audio) might be the culprit.
One thing I have noticed is that not every voice, in Reason, is affected by latency. But most are. I know that some people just work with that, and then move the notes after the fact of recording. But I, personally, just can't work like that.
I am wondering if someone might have some helpful info for me, regarding my issue. If a soundcard replacement does indeed seem to be of the order, would I be better off going internal? Or would I be just as good by getting one of those Digital Audio Interfaces? Which would be the cheapest 'latency killer' route for me to take?
