Soundcard Output Question Please Help

This may sound like a stupid question. And I'm pretty sure I already know the answer (at least somewhat). Right now, the soundcard that I am using (Tascam US-428) only has 2 outputs(a Left and a Right). I'm really considering upgrading to a Delta 1010 and I'm wondering what the use of so many outputs is. Can someone please explain these to me? Thanks in advance for your help. This forum is great.

For one example, you can take a pair of unused outputs and route them to a standalone effects box (reverb, compressor, multi-effects, etc.) and then route that back into the inputs.

You can also use them for separate headphone or different monitors.

You could do that, or if you had multiple people listening to the track while it was being recorded...for example a group of singers trying to get more of a feel for the track as the vocals were being laid on, you could use it for that too.
