Soundcard and imported wavs

I'm importing tracks off a digital recorder into mixing software and vice versa. Does the quality of my soundcard affect these tracks besides playback? Will it affect them when I burn mixed wavs to cd? Or since the tracks weren't recorded through the soundcard they basically bypass it. I plan on getting a new soundcard. But want something with a true, quiet playback. The one that came with my pc is a tad noisy. Thanks. Pj

If you can transfer the audio to the computer through a digital port like S/PDIF, then no, the quality of the soundcard should have no effect on the original audio. But if you are recording from the analog outs into the analog inputs, then yes, the quality of the soundcard's A/D converters will matter.
