i wanted to buy a soundbooth but at 2000, it was out of my range. i was wondering if i could build one for 500-1000 instead. what would i need? are there any online manuals for this?
Try using the forums' search facility on the words....."vocal booth", "soundproofing", etc.........
Or look at this site and apply the principles you learn there to building a booth..... http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html

Plywood (MDF), screws, glue, gypsum board, rubber, some studs, acoustical foam and of course, a door and a window.
My 4'x4' booth cost me about $850 US, though to be fair, I only had to build three walls, as its not stand-alone, but integrated into the back corner wall.
But, the two side walls are hinged, so I can fold the booth up against the wall so instead of being 4'x4', its only 2'x6' or thereabouts. Since where I *had* to put it blocks the stairs leading outside when its "open".
