I have a Soundblaster Live! in my PC, and also have a MIDI-capable keyboard. Although I've always done straight-up live analog recording in the past, I'm interested in possibly using sound fonts on some new recordings, and was hoping to trigger the sounds with my keyboard. In other words, do stuff like get a good piano sound font, and use it with my keyboard (i.e. have a friend who plays piano come over, plug the keyboard into the computer, and play using the sound font sounds, with the sound coming out of the computer and potentially being recorded).
I guess I'm looking for a good site or tutorial that would start me on the road to using my sound card and keyboard to their full potential in regards to computer-based recording. I may want to use my drum machine in a similar manner someday as well. Anyone have recommendations for such a site?
