I was thinking of buying a MR8 whenever theyre back in stock...
My question is while i just started playing guitar i would mainly want to use the box for rap or r&b...

Is the MR8 good for those types of music?

I don't think it matters what kind of music you will be doing. Most everyone on here that uses the MR-8 uses it in conjunction with their PC. It is very easy to transfer tracks to a PC via the USB hookup. If you don't use the MR-8 with you PC (to be totally honest with you) it does have recording time limitations. The 128mb card that comes with the MR-8 allows you approx. 25 track minutes. In other words 8 tracks of a approx. 3 minute song.
If you transfer to the PC you have unlimited track minutes providing you have a decent sized hard drive.

Gospel's right, without the pc the MR8 has some serious limitations. As far as style of music is concerned, it's not an issue. It's a basis recorder that will do a good job of reproducing anything you put into it. If you don't want to use the pc then check out the Fosxtx VF80. It's a bit more money, but a much better stand alone recorder.
