I saw some mentions of this book on various threads. I just ordered a copy from buy.com.

Can I get some comments and reviews on the book?

You wont regret it...

Though I didn't have one, it's the best handy tuttorial book covering Sonar / Cakewalk available !!! Lots of tricks & hidden features being informed.

Have a look at this thread...

You're lucky :) Scott Garrigus (Mr. G) is author of Cakewalk, Sound Forge and Sound Forge 6,
SONAR and SONAR 2 Power! books, he is also publisher of DigiFreq. You probably get some review fresh straight from his hand :)

sonar power a must

If youve got sonar then sonar power is a must. its much better than the cakewalk manual that comes with the program. The users guide does , however have things that sonar power does not have. between the two you are well on your way to getting almost all you need to know. There is a new guy on the block selling a CD tutorial which I just purchased as well. heres a link: its got a pretty good free demo of what it does there. I really like it!

But if you have "Sonar 1 Power" you don't need to buy "Sonar 2 Power" IMHO, since it's not that much new information in the new book... ;)

Essential .. Scott Garrigus has written a great guide book here.

£20 has never seemed so little for something so useful..

Definitely get it :)

Aaron.

I agree. Great book. Scott has a way of explaining things so that even I can understand it.

Oh great, so now all those people asking where they can get a Sonar Manual can just get this book huh?

Those stupid losers.

People should just buy the software!

Ahem.

So, uh where can I get that book again? Yeah, 'cause my manual is in like, Farsi or something.

Hi Everyone,

Wow! Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments about my books. I really appreciate it, and I'm very happy to hear that you're all enjoying my work. :)

Yep, you don't need both books. If you are still using Sonar 1, then get the original Sonar Power book. If you are using Sonar 2, then get the Sonar 2 Power book instead. I have a bunch of info about all my Power books over on my site at:
http://www.garrigus.com/powerbooks.asp

Just click on the software you are using and the web site will tell you which book you need to get.

And like James mentioned, you can also get the DigiFreq newsletter for free. It provides Cakewalk tips and articles on a regular basis. Go to:
http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/

Thanks again!
Scott

Hey, I didn't know you were a member here, Scott. My girlfriend (oh wait, my WIFE) got Sonar 2 Power for me as a present a while back. Definitely a great resource. Of course some of the guys around here can answer a question just about as quick as I can look it up in my now dog-eared copy of your book. Just one complaint though. I thought there should have been a lot more pictures of boobies in it.

Scott,

Although I do not have the book, I have been enjoying my recent purchase of Sonar 2 XL. I must admit, I have been able to get right into it as I find the learning curve not that hard at all. Mind you, I am talking about the basics...I realize there is so much to this program that it wil take me time to fully utilize it.

After just a couple days I have already put together a decent tune!

Thanks!!!

Great Book

Sonar Power 2 was one of the best books ive bought
as an additional reference manual and ive bought alot,
my other favorite is Adobe Premiere 6 Bible. I am a newbie
and it helped me out greatly, i reference it all the time
to pull more and more tid bits out of. And of course
the Ocean of information you get out of this forum too

Cheers
Makkon

Hi mbuster -- Yep, I try to participate in the various communities around the Net when time permits. I like to keep in touch and stay informed about what's going on with music technology.

Sorry about the lack of boobie pictures. :) But there's probably plenty of those to be found on the Net. Not that I would know. I spend most of my time writing.

Hi Richie -- Cakewalk provides very good documentation with Sonar, and some people find that perfectly adequate. But there are many topics of which they don't cover in much detail. My book was never meant to replace the manual. It's meant to be used in conjunction with the manual. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Sonar. :)

Hi Makkon -- Thanks very much! It's good to hear that Sonar 2 Power has provided so much help for you in getting the most out of the software. I really appreciate your kind comments.

Best regards,
Scott
