What software is general considered the most superior in terms of capturing and mixing vocals on a pre-recorded instrumental?
 
What do you mean by most superior? Most expensive or most commonly used or with the most features...? I think any of the usual ones i.e. Logic, cubase, ProTools etc can be used to achieve great results. I think more important is what hardware you are using.
 
All the software except broken ones sound the same. Even the broken ones are not likely to sound audibly, perceptively different.

If you are doing vocals, look for software with excellent comping capabilities, like cubase's lanes feature for instance
 
all the ones mentioned can do that and sound the same, its really just whichever programs interface you prefer more.
