I know from a previous thread that the 1/4" phone plugs on an audio snake is for sending a signal to your power amp from your board, right? Qustion is, what type of cable do I run from the snake head to the amp input? - would I use a regular speaker cable to the input, or an instrument cable? (Isn't a patch cord cable the same as an instrument cable??)

That depends on your amp and snake, most likely either XLR or Balanced/Unbalanced 1/4 inch phone. Use microphone or instrument cable since the signal is still at a relatively low level, you only need speaker cable after an amp when there is major power passing through the cable.
