I have a Shure SM-58 mic which seems to sound good on my voice. I have seen folks say an SM-57 should be used on a guitar. What is the actual difference in the two? My understanding was that the SM-57 essentially catches sound from straight above it whereas the 58 has a "rounder" field, which is good for onstage vocals in case you move around a bit.
So basically, is there any reason not to use my 58 to record my guitar?
