sm58 and phantom power

So,

I just got a Shure SM58, and it functions without phantom power... which is really nice...

However, I was wondering what would happen if I wanted to use the SM58 in conjunction with a condenser microphone that used phantom power...

What happens if phantom power is turned on when the SM58 is plugged in? Is there any danger in damaging the microphone with extra current running through it?

thanks!

That's good to know.

I am a responsible microphone owner, and I make sure to turn off phantom power before plugging or unplugging mics..

Thanks again for the input.
