Anybody ever compare these two mics? Similar to SM57 and 545 except for the isolation shock mounting, so reviews comparing these mics is just as valid. The only difference seems to be the part that holds the cartridge... SM56/57 has a metal barrel, the 546/545 has the black plastic.
I use a 546 on live gigs for electric bass in front of my SVT 810 cabinet (which isn't about low end anyway) because I finally got fed-up dealing with DI boxes at live gigs. I also kinda dig the retro look of this mic (546) and the classic rock bass tone it delivers for FOH.
Recently did a gig and the sound guy says he has a "bass" mic he wants to try. So I let him... he puts a SM57 to my rig (LOL). Suggestions for other mics is appreciated, but not necessary since I am looking for review comparisons only between those listed above.
