Slight hum/static/interference when recording with mixer connected via USB

I have an Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX connected to my computer via USB. When I record with it, I get this constant sound in my recordings. I'm not sure what you could call it. It sounds like the gain or something is up too high somewhere, but it does it even when nothing is plugged in and all the knobs are set to 25% or below. Does anybody know what the problem could be? I could provide a sample recording if it would help.

Is it a high pitched whine? If so, that is a common problem with the AD converters in mixers. Some mixers (unfortunately, not yours) have a USB output 'volume' (signal level) control, an dusually keeping this low gets rid of the whine.
Now you know why we typically recommend mixers for live mixing and audio interfaces for recording.
