Sitting on a Mackie 1604

So I've been sitting on this Mackie 1604-VLZ Pro with some problems with the L/R outs. I don't recall but the last time I used the mixer I think the left output was cutting out. Anywho, is there anything worthwhile in this mixer worth pulling, reworking and rehousing for new purposes? I know the pres in this mixer are supposed to be good. But I haven't heard about anyone doing this before to one.

Why not try to fix it?
I have just pulled the manual on it and that is a pretty well specified mixer.

There is a guy on the noobs section who has a 1010lt soundcard. That mixer with its direct outs would be just the very job!

Dave.

Hi Walt-Dogg,

Look for "mackie ribbon cable issue" on Google.
Good luck... the best will probably to negociate with loud technology service center to have it repaired.

regards,

Ron.

You can look into getting a ribbon kit which you can get at most music stores or call Mackie and request a ribbon set version G. Also try using DeOxit on the connections. The ribbon set will probably run between $120 to $150 a set OR if you really want a challenge, you can make your own ribbon cables provided you have good soldering skills.
