Signal levels, mic, line, etc. With regards to re amping

Hello, I decided re-amping would be an incredibly useful tool for me.

As I understand, I need a DI box to split the signal, with one 1/4" jack output to continue on with the same instrument level to my amp, and one XLR out to my interface/desk which would be mic level?

And then I would need a reamp box out of the desk to convert it from mic level to instrument level to go back to my amp the same as it came out of my guitar.

Is this correct?

Can somebody please briefly explain the different levels?

Also, my interface has two instrument level inputs for connecting guitars directly without a DI box.
I presume I could reamp without a DI box using this? That is, if I wasn't bothered about hearing out of the amp whilst playing the first time.

I'm more of a "as-it-falls" guy, and I like playing to the tone coming from the amp...so I'm not into reamping...but recording philosophy aside…if you want to do it right, this is what you need:

For the front end:

I have this box...works well when I want to split out from an amp...and not just for guitars.

For the reamp:

There is also the "original" remap box:

Can you "fudge" it with basic DI boxes and mucking around with signal levels…?...yeah, but if you are going to employ reamping extensively, the tools above will do it right for you.
At least check out the websites...they may answer some of your basic questions.

The only thing that you said that was wrong was on the way back out. The reamp box takes a LINE LEVEL signal and turns it into an instrument level signal.

The level thing isn't as important as the impedance matching. The DI box takes the high impedance guitar signal and changes it to a balanced low impedance signal. The level gets set by the mic preamp and is affected by the output of the guitar. The reamp takes the line signal and changes it to more of what a guitar pickup would be putting out.

My reamper (made my Redial) has an output knob on it, which can really give you the ability to really push an amp more than a standard guitar will without a boost pedal.
