Side chain help please

So i have my kick and my bass guitar and i read on the internets that it might be a good idea to let the kick breath through the bass using a side chain, here is my wonder

How can i set effectively the sidechain so that the kick only take over the bass guitar and not the whole mix

Insert a compressor with a sidechain into the bass track.

Go the kick track, enable one of the sends and assign the send to the side chain input of the kick compressor.

Set the send to unity (0dBfs).

Set your compressor to get the desired amount of compression, keyed by the kick.

Voila.
